How long will a physical therapy session take?

We will do an extensive evaluation on your first visit with treatment after, so it will likely take more than an hour. If you are in a time crunch, let us know so that we can accommodate your needs. Follow up sessions will take an hour. Shorter, 30-minute sessions, are also available.

What can I expect at my first visit?

We are located in a spa within a gym, so you will have a private room for your evaluation and treatments. Patients should wear athletic clothing (including a sports bra for females, if possible). If you do not like to wear shorts, please bring some with you, especially if your problem area is in the hip, lower back, or leg areas. There are changing rooms and restrooms if you need to get ready before or after your session.

You will have a few short papers to sign on the first day, mainly covering patient privacy rights and discussing any specialized treatments. After each visit, you will receive an email with videos of the exercises we did with progressions, a short summary of findings that day, and links to any equipment that was discussed.

What insurance do you take?

Athlete's Mechanic, LLC has chosen a cash-based, out-of-network practice. If requested, we will gladly provide a “superbill” that contains all of the information you need to discuss and submit an out-of-network claim to your insurance company. Prior to your visit, it may be helpful for you to contact your insurance provider and ask if they cover out-of-network practices. If they do, you can personally file for reimbursement from your insurance company to reduce your out-of-pocket expense. Most insurance companies, with the exception of Medicare, Medicaid, and some HMOs, will provide reimbursement for services received “out of network.”

Why don’t you accept traditional insurance?

Our goal at Athlete’s Mechanic is to provide the absolute highest quality of care possible. In order to do this, we integrate a fully one-on-one patient to therapist model which, quite frankly, is not well supported by the world of insurance. Choosing to be an ‘out of pocket’ clinic means that we are not confined to what insurance deems is necessary for you. We are free as doctors of physical therapy to use our knowledge, skills, and insight freely and transparently to provide you with the level of care that you truly need to meet your goals. In this model, you will not experience overlapping time with other patients, enabling us to spend focused, quality time with you every single visit. In our ‘cash based’ model, you enter into an agreement with your physical therapist concerning your services in a manner that both parties have decided upon and that will ultimately help you reach your goals most efficiently.

When will I be billed for my visit(s)?

You will pay at the time of service, but there are various payment options available to you in order to help divide up the cost. During the first session, we will decide on the plan of care (number of visits) together. There is full transparency about your care, number of visits, and cost at the initial evaluation so that there are no surprises.

You can pay for all of the visits up front, or divide the cost into two payments. You also have the option to pay for individual visits, at the individual price. You can pay by cash, credit card, debit card, HSA, check, or Venmo.
